After being out of town for the past two weekends, camping and then a wedding, I was really looking forward to coming home to act like a little old lady who goes to bed by 9 and is asleep by 10. Instead the LEO life took over once more...
Sunday Night: 13 text messages and phone calls (all after midnight!).
Monday Night: 2 text messages, 1 call (some random butt dialing), showered and got ready somewhere around 3 a.m, came back an hour and a half later to unload his pockets ever so LOUDLY on the nightstand. SERIOUSLY, the keys were tossed on to the wooden surface. And since I'd rolled over to his side of the bed, he didn't wake me ever so gently as I would've done to him (although I probably would've just slept on the other side). No! Instead his urgency to get to sleep means I get SHOVED over. Excuse me!!!
I say it's time to move out! ...out of the bedroom that is!!!
You see, when the hubby was just a newbie he worked night shifts and slept through the morning. Sometimes until 2 p.m. I felt paralyzed to the bed from the moment I woke up until his eyes saw their first ray of sunlight through the black curtains. I laid there as quiet as can be and tried not to move. As you can imagine, I finally got up and went about my day. The problem was I woke him up while I got ready OR had to come back in the bedroom.
THE SOLUTION. I moved all my clothes out of the only walk-in-closet in the house (sigh!) and moved it to a guest bedroom closet. YES, the one our guest stay in... AS IN when we have guest, I have to take my clothes out for the weekend prior to their arrival. This really SUCKS since I can never decide what to wear. It's been a nightmare but I am happy to do it if it means he is at his best while at work.
Well, he's currently working "regular" hours by most standards (M-F 8-5ish) but is on call 24/7 and occasionally gets up in the middle of the night to do his "secret squirrel" business and comes back. Sleeps a couple hours and gets up for the regular shift.
Meanwhile, I'm woken up at every phone ring, text message, bathroom break, shower, hurried swinging of doors, unloading of pockets, sneaking in and out of bed, burp, fart, and groan. I won't even get in to his snoring. I'm sure the snoring will one day have it's own post... but you get my point!
Time for this understanding wife to take back the walk-in!!!
In this marriage, we give and we take...and it's time for me to take that closet back. Yeehaw!
