The word of the day is SOUP SANDWICH.
Go ahead, visualize a soup sandwich. Close your eyes and take a bite. Pretty messy huh! That is what a soup sandwich is, messy. A soup sandwich can be described as a situation that's messed up to the F'ed up.
I often hear the term used when the dear Hubby is calling to let me know that he'll be home late. It often comes in sentences like this one... "This whole day has been a soup sandwich".
I have adopted the word and like to throw it out there in my everyday language to see how people respond to it. More often than not they look at me with a lost look but never ask. Like it's a "cool" term they should be familiar with but don't want to be "uncool" by asking what the heck I just said. I laugh within myself as I keep on talking.
